USSD Code
You can easily access your BVN code just by using your phone (no internet required). CBN offers USSD code service to know your BVN. To check BVN via this method, you’ll require a phone and a mobile number that is register in your Bank Account.
To check BVN number, open your phone’s Dialpad and type *565*0# . After dialing the code you’ll receive a popup and voilà! Your BVN number will be displayed on your screen. Convenience at its finest!
Note
- The individual must dial the shortcode (*565*0#) using the phone number registered for his/her BVN
- A service fee of N20 is charged
- No BVN would be returned where the phone number is linked to more than one BV
Apart from that you can also use USSD codes to validate BVN number. You are required to dial the shortcode (*565*1#), enter a BVN and send. The Name registered to the BVN is returned via the USSD session.

NBISS Portal
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) provides a portal for a more comprehensive experience. Follow the steps below to find you BVN number:
- Log in using your phone number to NBISS portal or create an account if you do not already have one.
- Click the “More” option at the bottom of the screen
- Select “My Bank” from the list of options.
- You will then be able to view the BVN number associated with your account.
This method will require a internet connection.
