The First Descendant has finally rolled out its Season 1 patch, and with it comes a brand new Descendant—Hailey. Unlike previous Descendants, unlocking Hailey requires a more involved process with specific materials needed in larger quantities. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to unlock Hailey as quickly as possible, whether you’re grinding through Disruption Events or considering other in-game strategies.
Understanding the Unlock Process
In The First Descendant, unlocking new characters usually involves collecting various materials through missions and events. For Hailey, the process is a bit different and more challenging. Instead of needing just one of each item, you’ll need to collect 36 units each of the following materials:
- Hailey Reinforced DNA
- Stabilizer Components
- Spiral Catalyst Rings
- Data Chips
This totals to 144 items, making Hailey’s unlock process more grind-intensive than previous characters.
How To Unlock Hailey FAST In The First Descendant?
Step 1: Complete Initial Missions
Start by progressing through the initial missions of Season 1. These missions are essential as they unlock the Disruption Events—special activities where you’ll collect the materials needed to unlock Hailey. Completing these initial tasks is your gateway to gathering the necessary components.
Step 2: Participate in Disruption Events
Once Disruption Events are unlocked, they become your primary source for collecting the materials. Here’s how to maximize your gains:
- Choose Your Event: In the Disruption Events, you can select between a normal or hard infiltration. Opting for the hard infiltration offers a 25% chance to obtain one of the four required materials after completing the event.
- Aim for Gold Rank: If you complete the event within a specific time limit, you’ll earn a Gold Rank, which rewards you with three units of a single material per run. This is crucial for speeding up the process.
- Daily Limit: You can participate in these events four times a day—two times per location. Completing all four runs daily will potentially net you 12 units of materials. This means you can gather all 144 items needed in about 12 days, assuming optimal results and no duplicate drops.
Step 3: Optimize Your Farming Strategy
In addition to Disruption Events, there are specific missions where you can farm for these materials. This can help speed up the process, especially if you’re aiming to unlock Hailey faster than the 12-day grind. Here are the missions you should target:
- Reinforced DNA: Farmable in Magister Lab, Slumber Valley, and Kingston.
- Stabilizer Components: Available in the Shelter in Vespers and Chapel in Echos Swamp.
- Spiral Catalyst Rings: Found in the Asylum in Agna Desert and Caligo Ocer in Agna Desert.
- Data Chips: Available in Haven in Hios and Mysteries End in White Night Cul.
However, keep in mind that the drop rate is not guaranteed. On average, you may need to run these missions multiple times to obtain a single unit of the required material. This makes it a grind, but with patience and persistence, you can significantly reduce the overall time needed to unlock Hailey.
Step 4: Consider the Purchase Option
For players who may not have the time or patience to grind, Hailey is also available for purchase in the in-game shop for 900 currency units. While this option is costly, it may be worth considering if you want to bypass the grind and unlock Hailey immediately.

Is It Worth the Hassle?
Look, unlocking Hailey is definitely more of a pain than previous characters. It’s a lot of materials and a lot of time. But if you’re the type who gets a kick out of earning your rewards the hard way, go for it.
